God’s Marvelous Creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23.

This past week, I was in a place of great natural beauty, at a children’s camp. The camp was surrounded on three sides by granite mountains. The Quartz Mountains are located in the southwestern part of Oklahoma. On the one side without a mountain was a beautiful view of a lake, and more mountains in the background. The beautiful setting seemed to cry out, “there is a God,” “there is a God,” “there is a God.”

I noticed though, that by the end of the week, I was taking the beautiful setting for granted. I no longer thought consciously of the beauty of the place. Before I left on Friday, I made myself pause, and think again of God’s beautiful creation.

The apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” If we know Christ Jesus as our Savior, we are a new creation, all things have become new. But too often, we tend to take for granted that new creation that we have become. We take for granted, the beautiful new life that the Holy Spirit has breathed into us, much as I took God’s natural creation for granted by the end of last week.

Let us pause each morning, and remember again our new birth. Let us remember again, the peace, the joy, and the love that flooded our souls when God took up residence within us. Let us marvel at His mercies, which are new every morning.
