Still Powerful
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” – Acts 3:6 NKJV.
And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. – Acts 16:18 NKJV.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. – 1 Corinthians 5:4-5 NKJV.
An armed robber in Frisco, Texas encountered a force more powerful than his 9mm Glock handgun. What was that force? Marian Chadwick simply pointed her finger at the would be robber, and the robber turned around, and left the store. Actually, the pointing of the finger was not the power that turned the man around. No, it was the words uttered by Marian, “In the Name of Jesus, you get out of my store. I bind you by the power of the Holy Spirit.” To Marian and another person that was present at the time, the robber appeared to be “stunned”; and he then turned, and walked out of Marian’s crafts boutique, Extravagant Necessities. This same man is believed to have successfully committed armed robberies in four Dallas suburbs, and has not yet been apprehended.
As people of faith, as Bible believers, we believe that the miracles of the Bible are literally true. As we know, the miracles were necessary to authenticate the acts of Jesus and His apostles. However, living in this world some 2,000 years later we are hesitant to believe that the miracles that happen around us are actually miracles. We are much more likely to attribute the miraculous to being a coincidence, or a lucky break. Or, in the case of someone whose X-rays or MRI has changed suddenly from showing a malignancy to revealing nothing of significance, we almost automatically think this was simply a mistake by the Doctor or operator of the equipment.
It is rare for it to actually be reported in the news media an undeniable act of God, a miracle, as occurred in the boutique shop of Marion Chadwick. I wonder though how many people actually paused to read the story, or if they were watching the news on television if they even listened to the words. How many people who heard the story or read the story even stopped to think that this is a great miracle of God that has occurred?
Even though it has been 2,000 years since Jesus walked upon this earth – God is still God. Not only is God still God, but the Name of Jesus is still powerful. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it (John 14:12-14).”
(In the year 2010 we need to remember that God is still God.)

Miracles Happen to those who believe
Posted By BLESSEDGAL23 on May 22, 2010
Thanks Ed for this article, i was reading through your articles and this one hit me. I believe that miracles happen from God to those who believe, some people call it luck i call it God’s favor or mercy or miracle.
I am raised in a Christian family, and in my life i have seen miracles happen, the recent one that happened to me was on 9th April when i was in jail locked up abroad awaiting deportation from the Netherlands because my residence permit was 3months expired and i had no means of renewing it, i had two options to stay illegal or go back to Kenya my home,my family back in kenya are depending on me,so going back to kenya empty handed was the worst tragedy that woul hit me and my family,i asked my mother to pray for me that i had no residency.
The police picked me up and i stayed in jail for 2days in a dark room, where i could not know if it was night or day, i was so scared, of the dark room, police around me, and being deported epmty handed.I was allowed to make one call only, so i called a Belgian lady i met online on an aupair website, then we met once in February she has a little daughter she wanted me to take care of,i called her and told her that am being deported and i will communicate with her when am in kenya since am unreachable. Before she said anything the police snatched the phone from me and that was it.
I cried, but to who??No one would hear me, I had no phone,no shoes,no comunication, i could only cry to God, my creator,i cried to God in jail these were my words upon realising that my fate was sealed and that i was just waiting for the plane, i was transfered to a hight detention centre together with hardcore criminals.
I said to God from deep my spirit” I am a human, i have done my best, coming to Holland was first a miracle and since i got to see and to have knowlegde, i have always believed that YOU GOD is real and is existing,if You really do exist, Dont let me be deported for the sake of my poor family, if You are God i have always trusted and Mighty as i have all my life believed, then save me, i don’t know how but if You are real i know You can!!” I was filled with anger at the same time at God, i asked Him haven’t i suffered enough?? Doesn’t He see?? Isn’t He merciful and Faithfull?? i said to myself, i will never talk about God if He did not deliver me,because hen i would change my belief that there is no God, and never worship Him,i was bitter at God and desperate at the same time, deep inside i felt some comfort in the midst of the uncertainities
That was my prayer.
On friday 9th April at 9pm the officers came to tell me that the Belgian Government have accepted me in Belgium without a visa based on the contract that the lady presented to them that she is hiring me as an aupair, she made a thousand calls between international police and government and emails trying hard to get me out, i did not know all these was going on in just one day!! The lady i met only once, she pushed herself for a stranger, ”GOD SENT HER TO RESCUE ME” She drove 4hrs left a baby alone for a stranger in prison.
This is my belief, God is real, so real that i cannot explain,i could not believe i was walking out of that tightly secured prison at Schipol Airport.
Not only did i walk free, i had a job and a 1year residence permit for European Union, a place to stay, everything changed upside down, from a jobless illegal homeless lady.
Surely God is faithfull.
Miracles happen from God to those who believe.
God bless you Ed
Your daughter in Christ Faith Okoth.
