God’s Will be Done
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28 NKJV.
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? – Matthew 5:44-46 NKJV.
David Shoshan in Israel has been having some problems with someone treating him “harshly and not nicely.” David says that he has made several contacts with police about these crimes, and that the police were sent to his house ten times. However, what David really wants is a restraining order; but Judge Ahsan Canaan denied the request. David represented himself at the hearing, but for some reason the other party was not available for the hearing. Who is this that is causing David so many problems? David says God is the one who has been very unkind to him over the years. Judge Canaan said that David is “delusional” and that he needs resources not available to the court. The Israeli news site NRG attempted to contact God for comment, but He was unavailable. (Independent UK 05.06.16; NRG 05.06.16; Fox News 05.06.16)
Over the centuries there have been others that may have wanted a restraining order against God; although they did not seek relief in a court. Job’s wife, who told Job he should just curse God and die, would have like to have had a restraining order. Job himself would probably have liked to have had one too. Then, of course, there is Jonah. God called him to witness to those evil Ninevites in Nineveh. Today that would be like God calling you to go and witness to ISIS, although the Ninevites may have been even more evil.
It is not always God’s will for some things to happen to you. This is an important thing for you to understand. Is it God’s will that someone who is drunk or high on some substance to drive the wrong way down a highway and slam into other vehicles? Of course, that is not God’s will, but it has happened many many times. Is it God’s will for someone to decide to rob a bank and kill someone during the robbery. Of course not, but that is what has happened many many times.
Do we need a restraining order against God when bad things happen in our lives? No. Did God cause that bad thing to happen in your life? Possibly, but it is more likely that it was just something that happened because of the bad decisions of others. Or, it just happened because of the corrupt nature of the world we live in that was corrupted when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden. Because God “makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
At times we may not know what to pray for or about; however, the Holy Spirit knows, and the Holy Spirit will take our prayers translating them according to the will of God. In Romans 8:26-27 NKJV we are told, “For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” The assurance that we receive in Romans 8:28 is this: bad things may happen in your life, but God wants what is good for you. This is God’s will. Pray for it! As Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:10 NKJV, “Your kingdom come. YOUR WILL BE DONE. On earth as it is in heaven.”
