Meant to Be
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. – 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV.
Picture the urgent scene of a helicopter bringing a heart from a donor to be transplanted into a patient at Keck Hospital of the University of Southern California. The helicopter crashes on the helipad of the hospital shaking the entire building. The helicopter ends up on its side but thankfully the pilot was able to extricate himself with only minor injuries along with two others who refused treatment. Emergency crews rushed to the helipad prying open the copter with the jaws of life. The donor heart was retrieved, but then the person carrying the heart tripped and fell with it. The heart was recovered again and was successfully transplanted into the patient. Some things are just meant to be! (Mirror News 11.07.20 and various other news venues.)
During this time of worldwide pandemic and the election turmoil in the United States will God answer our prayers about the pandemic and the election? One thing we can have confidence in is that when we pray according to God’s will what we are praying about will come to pass. Of course, we want the pandemic to end now, as in yesterday, so our lives can become normal again. We want the uncertainty about the election to also come to an end some in one way and others in another way. 1 John 5:14-15 is a guarantee that our prayers matter and that they will make a difference. Because, if it is God’s will, it is meant to be.
In a larger sense as we contemplate all of the pain and trouble that the pandemic and the election too is inflicting upon our lives it is easy to become discouraged. The message of Romans 8:28 is of vital importance to keep in mind as we travel through the rest of 2020 and beyond. In spite of the pain and trouble that we are experiencing God is able and will bring good out of it for those “…who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” It is just meant to be!
I know that in my own life and in the lives of many others that God is using this time to draw us closer nearer to Him. May our God do the same in your life!
