Are They Delusional?

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. – John 8:32.

After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”  Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” – John 3:2-3.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. – John 14:6.

Joseph Spriestersbach knew that he was not delusional, but no one would believe him. Yes, he was homeless in Hawaii although there are worse places to be homeless. Joseph had no idea though that he would be arrested for a crime he didn’t commit and be thrown into a state mental hospital for more than two years.

It is a wonder that Joseph wasn’t delusional after being forced to take psychotic medications for more than two years. Finally, the truth was revealed, and they kicked Joseph out with fifty cents in his pocket. The truth was that Joseph Spriestersbach really was not Thomas Castleberry who had been wanted for a probation violation and had already been arrested and locked up in an Alaskan prison the entire time. Sad that even his public defender thought Joseph was delusional. Not so delusional after all, was he…. (Washington Post 08.03.21; New York Times 08.06.21; and various other news venues.)

I read an old statistic recently that claimed that in the year 2000 that only two percent of the world’s population could be considered “born again.” In the year 2021, if I had to guess, my guess would be that the percentage of those “born again” in the world is much smaller.

Why is that? For one thing the world looks at Christians, true believers in Jesus Christ, as being out of their minds. Or, you could say they believe that we are delusional. The truth is widely available that Jesus Christ the Son of God came down from the glories of Heaven walked upon this earth for some 33 or so years. Even Josephus the Jewish historian recorded that there was a man prominent enough among the people of that time named Jesus to make mention of. The truth that Jesus was tempted at all points becoming the perfect sacrifice for all of your sins and mine – past, present, and future is looked upon as being delusional.

I’m sure it was a shock when the truth about Joseph Spriestersbach was finally revealed. It will be a far greater shock when Jesus comes again in the air to rapture believers taking them to be with Him in Heaven. But even then, their disappearance will be explained away in some way and the truly delusional believing Jesus was some myth will hang onto their delusion. Until,  the tribulation becomes a horrible reality, a real devil’s hell on earth.

If you have been hanging on to your delusion that Jesus is a lie, your time is running out. Time to grab hold of the Truth, Jesus Christ, while you still can. Jesus says in Revelation 3:20, “Behold,  I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,  I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Ask Jesus to come into your life and forgive you of your sins, the bad things, you have done. The Bible says in Romans 10:13, “For ‘whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”

(Who are really the delusional?)
