The Day of Battle
The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; They refused to walk in His law, and forgot His works And His wonders that He had shown them. – Psalm 78:9-11 NKJV.
To live a Christian life in our society takes courage. To live a Christian life is a battle. John F. Kennedy said, “Without belittling the courage with which men have died, we should not forget those acts of courage with which…men have lived.”
Today it takes courage for children to go to school. It takes courage for their parents to send them. To raise a family in a Christian home requires courage. To be a Christian employee in an unChristian environment requires courage. To reach out to others in the Name of Jesus requires courage. To lose a husband, or wife, or child to death and still go on with life requires courage.
We are in a battle, a battle for life. The enemy would take life away from us and have us hiding behind the doors of our houses trembling in fear. The children of Ephraim were well armed but turned back the day of battle. They forgot about the mighty miracles God was capable of performing, they forgot about the weapons they held in their hands and fled before even engaging the enemy. Many are doing the same today.
Let us remember our God is still the same. He has not changed. As His children He has given us the weapons, and all the resources necessary for victory. Let us not turn back in “the day of battle!”
