The Dragons of Life

May those curse it who curse the day,
those who are ready to arouse Leviathan. – Job 3:8 NKJV.

We can be thankful today that there are no dragons alive now. But there are Alligators! City workers in one Florida city have a new problem to deal with in their attempting fix a sewer problem. What was the problem? A five-foot long alligator. They sent a robot down into the sewer to see what the problem was, and the problem is an alligator! So, now who is going to go down there and get rid of the beast?

There are some things that we human beings have learned over the course of time as in: do not tangle with things like dragons and alligators. Of course, there are those who will jump on an alligator or a crocodile and wrestle with it. Not me!

There are multiple things in life that the Bible warns us are just as dangerous as an aroused dragon. Galatians 5:19-21 gives us a list of some of those things:

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like….” But there are many other sins as someone has an online list of 124 sins found in the New Testament.

Why are these things dangerous? For one thing they have the potential to send you to hell (the Lake of Fire – Revelation 3:14). After listing those sinful things, the apostle Paul then says: “I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” We are also told in Romans 3:23 that “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And then in Romans 6:23 we see that “The wages of sin is death.”

In order to escape that eternal death sentence, the “second death (Revelation 3:14),” we need a Savior. We need Jesus who took our place on the cross who died once for all (Romans 6:10). How do we take advantage of this tremendous thing that God has provided for us through the death of His own Son? The last part of Romans 6:23 tells us: “…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” To be saved from the punishment for our sins we must in our hearts want to turn from our sins and accept the “gift of God.”

Jesus says in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” You may receive the “gift of God” by opening up the door of your heart and asking Jesus Christ to come into your heart and life and be your Lord and Savior.

However, it is your option to opt out of receiving the free gift of eternal life (John 3:16) and instead experience the “second death (Revelation 3:14)” and live eternally in the “lake of fire” with “…the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan (Revelation 20:2).”
