Steps
Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. – Psalm 119:133 NKJV.
On Sunday evening, July 20, 1969 at my future parent-in-law’s home I watched Neil Armstrong step from the Lunar Module onto the surface of the moon. I heard Armstrong say those now famous words, “That’s one small step for man – one giant leap for mankind.” It was a small step taken by Armstrong but a step which made the history books. It was a small step which demonstrated in a most concrete way that mankind was not bound to planet earth.
In our own lives there have been many small steps that may have seemed small at the time which were actually giant leaps. The Psalmist asks God to direct his steps. When was the first step you took in walking with God? My first step with God was almost 53 years ago when I invited Jesus into my heart. It meant much to me at the moment, but I really had no idea of the giant leap I was taking. As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 all things did become new in my life. Everything has changed. God continues to surprise me as He directs my steps.
Do you remember some of the steps God has led you to after salvation? Prayer? Church attendance? Bible reading/study? Service? Witnessing? They seem like small steps but each one propels us forward in giant leaps in our walk with God. Life changing, life transforming steps. Has God been speaking to you about a step you need to take???
