He is Keeping Us

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. – Psalm 91:11 NKJV.

When I was seventeen, I ran off a dead end late at night with a friend (Norman Cupp). We did have our seat belts on which kept us from going through the windshield. However, it was before shoulder belts, and I hit my head very hard on the steering wheel. The car was damaged and not drivable. It was in an isolated rural area in the winter, and we walked a mile east to a house but no one appeared to be home. We walked back the mile to the car and beyond it two miles, or more to the west. There we found another house. We knocked on the door, but no one would come to the door. We then spotted a house about a half mile away up in a field and headed for it.

By this time, we were tired, cold, and my head was hurting even more. It was while we were on our way to the isolated house in the field that something happened. We saw something in the sky. We were afraid at first and began running. Maybe it was the head injury. But then everything changed. We looked back at the house we had come from and the lights were on and the dogs were barking. We ran back to the house and an elderly woman allowed us to use her phone and we called for help. The next morning, we went to school with no apparent injuries.

I can only believe that God sent something to help us intervening in our lives at a most crucial time. What was it? I can only conclude that it must have been angelic in nature because of the help we received. At the time if you had told me an angel had helped me, I would have laughed at you. I no longer laugh about spiritual realities. They are all very real even if we cannot see them with our eyes.
